Always Take the Scenic Route

From the farm in Massachusetts to the mountains in New Hampshire to the seashore in Maine .. all in a day. Our days rarely ever go as planned and this day was no different! I wanted to share the experiences I remember from many years ago with Eric, in the White Mountains. Driving the Kancamagus scenic highway, staring in awe at the incredible views and playing in the Swift River ... but of course, Mother Nature had other plans! Instead of the beautiful sunny summer day in the mountains I dreamed about, it was cold and dreary and gray .. much like our moods by mid-afternoon. While I was feeling disappointed and a bit defeated, after really hyping up the plans I had, Eric quickly saved the day, by doing what he knows best: Heading for the ocean! A couple of hours later, we were basking in the sun, staring at the Atlantic, in Portland, Maine ... just in time for the best lawn seats at an amazing 4th of July Fireworks festival! Another example of things not going as planned, because something better was meant for us!

Driving into the White Mountains in NH always brings back so many childhood memories and to this day, I still always hear my mom's voice saying "Look at the mountains!!"
